The award winning Irish Maritime Festival returns to Drogheda Port on the 16th & 17th June 2018 for what promises to be a great weekend. The festival will celebrate the deep maritime heritage of historic Drogheda.
This years' Irish Maritime Festival brings its' largest Flotilla of tall ships which includes The Earl of Pembroke, The Phoenix, Keewaydin, Motor tug Brocklebank, Johanna Lucretia and Brian Ború. Visit the weekend long festival and have an opportunity to climb aboard and explore the majestic Tall Ships.
'A taste of Ireland's East' promises lots of delicious treats for Artisan food lovers and craft beer enthusiasts. Celebrate food from local producers with unique Boyne Valley Flavours. Tara Walker, celebrity chef will host inspiring live cookery demonstrations using locally fresh sourced ingredients. The ultimate foodies will relish the opportunity to sample both local artisan produce and local craft beers.
A host of events are taking place offshore including the annual Boyne swim, the Howth-Drogheda Yacht Challenge and the traditional Water Wags sailing up the river Boyne. Onshore the events include street entertainment, Finn MacCool's Fairground, live music and much more. Lots of fun events are taking place for children at the festival. They can build a sandcastle in the sand shanty, enjoy the kids disco, produce creative artwork in Lir's World of Art, play super sized games and be entertained by Martin the Magician.
Music at the festival will include the sold out Stowaway Sessions which take place on the beautiful Tall Ship 'The Earl of Pembroke' with music by The Lost Brothers, Declan O'Rourke, Eve Belle and Pilgrim Street. The Maritime festival promises brilliant live performances across two stages over the weekend with many local artists including Fuzz Gigolo, Declan Garry, Niall Callan, Davina Brady, Katie Gallagher and many more. The trad music stage is sure to get everyone's feet tapping and will have us looking forward to hearing more at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in August. The Fleadh stage will host traditional Irish musicians, singers and dancers from all around the country.
