The award winning Irish Maritime Festival returns to the stunning location of the river Boyne in Drogheda on the 10th & 11th June 2017, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever. The festival is the ultimate celebration of Drogheda’s rich maritime heritage & history.
A highlight of the festival will be the opportunity for adventure and exploration created by the tall ships which sail into and dock in Drogheda port for the weekend. The fleet of six magnificent tall ships confirmed for the Irish Maritime Festival are: The Frigate Shtandart, The Earl of Pembroke, Brian Ború, The Soteria, La Malouine and motor tug Brocklebank.
There are lots of treats in store for Artisan food lovers and craft beer enthusiasts at the Festival. Celebrate food from local producers in ‘A taste of Ireland’s East’ Artisan Food Zone. Live cooking demos by celebrity TV chef Tara Walker using local ingredients are bound to give inspiration to your summer recipes. Food tasting and an opportunity to buy local produce are sure to delight the ultimate foodie. Sample local craft beers and local whiskeys or craft your own bottle of bespoke Gin!
A host of events are taking place offshore including the annual Boyne swim, the Peter Pan acrobatic show and the Howth-Drogheda Yacht Challenge. Onshore the events include street entertainment, Finn MacCool’s Fairground, live music and much more. King Neptune’s stage promises a host of fun events for children including shows, music and discos.
No festival is complete without an eclectic musical line up. The Maritime festival promises brilliant live performance to satisfy every taste. Soak up the sounds and electric atmosphere at the Ballast Quay Stage where a line-up of 21 acts will perform. Chill out with your friends in The Living Room and play retro games, have a cold beer and listen to a gig by one of the great live bands. ‘The Stowaway Sessions’ take place on the 9th and 10th June on board the majestic Tall Ship, The Earl of Pembroke and promises amazing acoustic performances from Heathers, Steve Wickham, The Carolan Brothers and Kern.
